A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our 4th Annual Cut-A-Thon. We raised $972 for the Band of Parents. We could not have done it without your help!!! This brings our total raised for Neuroblastoma research to $5500 in four years!

Save the date, Sunday October 17th, for our 4th Annual Cut-A-Thon to "Cut Out" Neuroblastoma. Salon Khouri's community giving continues with our 4th Annual Cut-A-Thon to "cut out" pediatric cancer in honor of Ashburn, Virginia resident, Taylor Love. Loyal customers may already be acquainted with Taylor Love's story. Taylor, a precious, five-year old, was unexpectedly diagnosed with Neruoblastoma when she was just 17 months old. Though for years she showed no evidence of the disease, after many long and challenging treatments, earlier this year, she was diagnosed with chemo-induced leukemia. Recently, Taylor underwent a bone-marrow transplant and has just recently been released to recover at home with her family.

To help raise funds and awareness for Taylor, Salon Khouri will be holding its 4th Annual Cut-A-Thon on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 11:00am to 3:30pm. We hope you will join us that day, get a haircut for a $25 donation (or more if like to give) which will be donated to help a Band of Parents, a group of parents bound by determination and hope coming together to fight Neruoblastoma, a childhood cancer of the sympathetic nervous system, affecting approximately 650 children in the U.S. every year. It is the second most common solid tumor in infants. Band of Parents

One hundred percent of all funds collected will go toward neuroblastoma research. If you cannot attend the Cut-A-thon, but would like to contribute, please make checks payable to "Band of Parents" (write Taylor Love in memo line) and mail to P.O. Box 335, Dewittville, NY 14728. To follow Taylor's progress, you can find the official Taylor Love Childhood Cancer Awareness" page on Facebook, and visit "Taylorgram" on the CarePages website.

Below are some fast facts on how neuroblastoma affect our children:

  • Each year about 600 children in the United States will develop neuroblastoma.
  • Pediatric cancer is the #1 killer of our children in the United States.
  • Only 3 - 5 million dollars is currently needed to make improvements on existing antibody therapies that can save childrens' lives who are affected with neuroblastoma.

If you were not able to participate but would still like to contribute, you can drop checks off at the salon made payable to the Band of Parents, or you can donate online via the www.bandofparents.org.
